• 1991-1995:Health Styles of Colorado: Chosen by Peers as One of Three Best Allergists in Denver, Colorado;
• 1999 Gold Medal Medical Design Excellence Award by Industrial Designer Society of America for medical device used currently in blood banks to prevent blood borne infections;
• 2006: Recognized in New England Journal of Medicine (Drenth,J & van der Meer JWM; August 17 2006) as one of several researchers who discovered the cryopyrin, a new innate immune mechanism from studies on familial cold auto-inflammatory syndrome. The discovery was referred to as the "Rosetta Stone of Innate Immunity".
